A teenager's Prayer



We're a young soul with a child's heart
An empty vessel in world act
Like a whirlwind roaming about,
In Christ,
We follow a cause to stand,
Our valiant leader
In His love
Did He command,
Give of the strength of your youth
Into the battle of truth
Give him first place in your heart
From your precious being
Consecrate every part
It will be a stirring challenge
A noble work to try
To make our life fulfilled
Our dreams satisfied,
Jesus as our example
Dauntless, young and brave was He,
Give loyal devotion
Seek to serve Him
With hearts full of adoration
And your steps will He guide
With words of wisdom
And ringing answers
For all our prayers and doubts
He delivers,
From chains and guilt
Peace and pardon He gives
Freedom from fears
As you confess your sin,
O God of our youth,
Sterner fights of life we'll face
Be our might to do right
Lest we forget
Inspire us to do thy will
And to have true authority
Deprived of pride
Make our life purposeful,
Our hope,
We cling on
As we grow in teenage years
Be with us.

  There was a song I learnt as a kid, which was—read your Bible pray every day—the song affirms the notion that if you don't read the Bible you won't grow but shrink and when you do read, you will grow. The song is one of the ones my mind ponder on most times and I find myself singing it to the younger generation.
