We Can All Be Hypocrite
MANY people largely have a surface belief of the sense of judgment which is synonymously close to condemnation. Even though we aren't supposed to judge others yet we ought to realize that we need to judge ourselves. Believe me, there is so much "I don't" "I mustn't", "I shouldn't" that we tend to rehearse and affirm them with words highlighted as nuggets. We do this at all available times and even subconsciously due to what issues we seemed to be faced with yet we leave out the authentic meaning and don't even act out the words. Are we ready to change this narrative or Are we truly all hypocrites?
Just because his sinful act is so glaring you are ready to condemn whereas yours isn't far-fetched but very close as everything you do appears in the dark and you think no one sees you.
Just because you've known her as a liar you're ready to condemn whereas you told a white lie just a few minutes ago. Oh! It's a white line true! Yet a lie is a lie as any sin is still a sin.
Just because some people watch visual films that appear unfiltered you are ready to condemn yet the thoughts that pass through your mind are as if you had watched with them.
Just because she is promiscuous and you are an untouched Virgin acting all high and mighty like an egoistic incarnate ready to contend when you haven't judged yourself.
It's like we can't help it, our response is more in form of a reflex to external stimuli such as the environment, people around us, and sometimes what we assume we truly are based on scars and all. The fact is, we can all be hypocrites even when we don't choose to, but deep down, we deliberately want to. A mindset is set in motion due to choices made and the repetition of such consecutive prerequisites as a result of the choices we made. So you see it's all in our mindset, we believe in how most things are.
There was a time, Jesus was sitting with publicans and sinners who were said to be uncircumcised according to the Jews (precisely the Pharisees, Sadducees, and the scribes). The disciples seeing these Jews approach hastened to stand and move away from their seats but Jesus stayed. Just think about it.
Why did he choose to stay?
Why didn't he move away from them as his disciples did?
Or you seem to change course as soon as you saw scrutiny from someone esteemed yet you go back to it when no one is watching and still you openly condemn such acts.
Who are you fooling?
Dear Reader, hypocrisy isn't just in the neighborhood but it's about to knock on your doorstep with its consequences is close. Who are we to condemn? who are we truly to point the finger?
I know I have been able to illustrate some assumptions using exampled actions but thought itself is counted as an action. So let's think about this. Why don't we examine ourselves first? You know, remove the beam in your eyes before you try to remove from others.
I beseech you to be like Jesus. He didn't go around condemning others, he corrected in love and didn't act like a hypocrite. His life is like an open book. When the people of Antioch noticed the disciples vying like Jesus they were moved and called them Christians which means they lived Christ-like.
We can all be hypocrites if we want to but let's choose the life of Christ so that others can see God in us because the world needs God.
For we are nothing but vessels yet we decide whether we are vessel unto honor or dishonor. The ball is in your court!
