My Thoughts From Watching A Docudrama - A Medium Possessed By A *Rayam god

Chinh Le Duc

I believe in the Maker of heaven and earth, though I'm not perfect, I strive to be a better believer every day until Jesus comes. As a writer, I immerse myself in reading and watching movies, particularly docudramas lately, as they provide valuable insights into my current projects.

Recently, I came across the documentary "Medium," which follows a shaman's family discovering that their Rayam god is supposedly controlling one of them. However, their lives take a terrifying turn when they realize the possession has nothing to do with the goddess. Directed by Banjong Pisanthanakun, this supernatural horror movie, spoken in the Thai Isan language, is a true work of art.

As a creative, I appreciate the extensive research done by the team. I always perceive God's presence, no matter how subtly conveyed the message may be. The storytellers shed light on the true desires of these mediums, revealing how curses and ignorance of the truth influence our lives.

We, as spiritual beings, possess an inherent void that no earthly pleasure can fill. Only through a spiritual connection can this void be temporarily or permanently filled. Our minds, the gateways to our souls, become vulnerable without the presence of a guiding Lord, making them susceptible to demonic intrusion.

I also believe that Jesus is the one and only true Lord, call me a fanatic but I only say what I believe. For those in the world, they can attest to the statement that where ones power finishes anothers begin. There is always a god greater than the other. But at the name of Jesus every knee must bow –those on earth, in the air and even under the earth MUST bow.

But when there is a LORD residing in your mind, and that Lord is Jesus Christ, it's enough to occupy all rooms.

So back to the drama, the *Rayam was worshipped in the forest–an isolated area in the cave, that's a red flag for me. Then, they need to cut themselves that's another red flag. Then *Rayam possesses the female in the family against their wish, disrupting their lives, their means of income, fainting spree. I'll say run sister, run. You are dealing with something you have no clear idea about. The devil has come to steal, to kill and destroy but the Lord has come to heal the sick and to save thou which are lost. When you accept Christ as your Lord and Savior you have the spirit of God in you. And where the spirit of the Lord is there is liberty.

The shaman's niece got possessed by unknown entities that displaced myriads personalities and they set off to exorcise her. Meanwhile, the attempt to exorcise the niece reveals the shaman's inner turmoil. As they confront the deceiving spirits, they realize their need for a greater help. You want to cast out a strange god with another strange god? Dey play, true deliverance comes through Jesus alone.

“...And he called them unto him, and said unto them in parables, How can Satan cast out Satan? And if a kingdom be divided against itself, that kingdom cannot stand. And if a house be divided against itself, that house cannot stand. And if Satan rise up against himself, and be divided, he cannot stand, but hath an end. No man can enter into a strong man's house, and spoil his goods, except he will first bind the strong man; and then he will spoil his house...”

Mark 3:23-27 KJV

What Can An Unbeliever Do, Not To Be Influenced, Possessed or Oppressed by Demonic Entities?

It's simple, accept Jesus Christ into your life.

“Dear Lord Jesus, I know that I am a sinner, and I ask for Your forgiveness. I believe You died for my sins and rose from the dead. I turn from my sins and invite You to come into my heart, my mind, my body and soul. I don't want to be Possessed or Influenced by demons.  I want to trust and follow You as my Lord and Savior”

When you do? The spirit of  God, that is the Holy Spirit comes and occupied your mind. No unclean spirit can take foot hold, hence no possession can occur. However, you can be oppressed by one. Because these entities can possess other people and these people can oppress you as well as influence whether at work, any where you meet or frequently go too. They don't need to dance and hope on one leg to do so. They just need to be cunny and reveal temporary solutions to your problems or whatever it is you might be facing.

What Can A Believer Do, Not To Be Influenced or Oppressed by Demonic Entities?

1. Stay Rooted In Prayer

Regular prayer strengthens your connection with God and can serve as a shield against spiritual attacks. Don't only prayer alone, if you have a family pray together.

2. Engage In Spiritual Warfare

Use the authority given to believers in Christ to resist demonic influence through prayer, fasting, and declaring the power of Jesus' name. This life is a warfare, we fight against principalities and powers, rulers of darkness in high places day by day.

3. Guard Your Mind
Fill your thoughts with things that are pure, noble, and true, as outlined in Philippians 4:8 KJV,

“...Finally, brethren, whatsoever things are true, whatsoever things are honest, whatsoever things are just, whatsoever things are pure, whatsoever things are lovely, whatsoever things are of good report; if there be any virtue, and if there be any praise, think on these things…”

And be discerning about the media and content you consume because your eyes and ears are a window to your mind. And your mind is connected to your soul.

4. Renounce And Resist

If you sense demonic oppression, actively renounce any influence or foothold they may have and resist their presence with the power of scripture and prayer. We renounce the spirit in the person and not the person.

5. Seek Deliverance
If you're struggling with oppression, seek guidance and support from mature Christians or pastors, who can help you through deliverance and spiritual counseling.

6. Stay Connected To A Supportive Christian Community

Surround yourself with fellow believers who can provide prayer, encouragement, and accountability in your spiritual journey. There are online and physical group nowadays, it shouldn't be hard to find

As a Christian, you have the authority and power through Christ to overcome any spiritual oppression or influence. Trust in God's strength and rely on His promises for protection and deliverance. Remember, this world was never our home to begin with.
